Our Story
Standards above any other agency
Karen Hukill spent 37 years in the Family Law arena watching too many frightened women walking the halls of the Superior Court in a weary search for protection and working with United Fathers of America in assisting fathers whose rights were often ignored during and after the breakdown of the parent’s relationship. Trained initially by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard Denner in Domestic Violence Advocacy and as a Professional Supervised Visitation Provider, Karen founded Parental Dynamics in 2005.
In 2010, Karen became one of the founding members of the California Association of Supervised Visitation Providers, a statewide association and training organization of professionals in California that supports the delivery of supervised visitation and exchange services through high-quality training and education, strategic leadership and collaborative partnerships, and implementation of program best practices.
In 2016, Parental Dynamics established in Arizona and brought with it excellence in best practices for providing supervised visitation services, which includes its strong policies and guidelines for safety and security procedures for the children and the adults during the visit. Since 2016, Karen has established business and professional memberships with the Maricopa County Bar Association (Paralegal Division), the Supervised Visitation Network Worldwide, the Association of Family and Conciliation Court Services (nationwide and locally) and the Arizona Association for Conflict Resolution.
Parental Dynamics has a flexible monitoring program in Maricopa, Yavapai and Pima Counties. We enforce Family Law and Juvenile court orders from every county in Arizona as well as authenticated out-of-state and international child custody orders for children residing in Arizona.
Every monitor at Parental Dynamics has at least one year of training and paid professional experience as a provider of supervised visitation services. Every monitor has a Level One Fingerprint Clearance issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Every monitor has current Infant/Adult CPR training. Every monitor is trained to observe and document Soberlink and other alcohol tests. Every monitor is a Mandated Child Abuse Reporter. Parental Dynamics have English and Spanish speaking monitors available. We are a 24/7 Agency who works on Sundays and all holidays, including overnight visits. We have multiple monitors, so your visit is never canceled if your primary monitor becomes unavailable.
Visit locations include in-home, and in-community such as local parks and recreation centers, libraries, aquariums and zoos, children’s museums, churches, restaurants, shopping malls, and indoor entertainment centers. Parental Dynamics will work with the parents to address any concerns about these locations.
We understand the exchange of children with the other parent can be stressful for adults and traumatic for the children. For this, we offer a supervised exchange program. This service is an excellent way to keep both parties distance from each other and ensure your child’s safety. This service also comes with documented notes that can be used in court if needed.
In many of these situations such as high-conflict and high-risk parenting situations, it may be necessary for Parental Dynamics to appear in court to testify as to the unbiased truth of the events witnessed. Since 1987, Karen has testified in 100+ cases before the Arizona and California courts. Parental Dynamics cannot make recommendations on custody arrangements, but we do work together with any forensic counselor, therapeutic interventionist or any law enforcement agency.
